Job Description Learning Exchange (brown.edu/go/LE) is an after-school program with Rhode Island middle schools, that helps students develop a passion for learning science. Learning Exchange Coordinators must possess a strong passion for teaching, mentoring and inspiring young scientist. We seek coordinators with interests in computer science, modeling, and engineering design. Coordinators are responsible for setting and driving the vision of the program, developing curriculum, and managing the relationship with partnership leaders.
Job Requirements Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for this position. Experience in programming is strongly encouraged, but not required. - Create a cohesive and fun learning environment for the middle students participating in the Learning Exchange - Develop weekly lessons plans based on the curriculum goals - Possess strong skills in classroom management - Assist the Science Center administrators in recruiting volunteer Learning Exchange mentors - Manage a team of volunteer Learning Exchange Mentors - Meet with Science Center administrator(s) to provide updates and reports on a weekly basis. - Coordinate events that are pertinent to the academic and social goals of the Learning Exchange Overall, Learning Exchange Coordinators must work to sustain a program that engages students in challenging projects, learn more about effective teaching practices for K-12.
