Job Description The Asian American Student Initiative Coordinator (AASI) takes a leading role in the “Pan Asian Council” (PAC). By bringing together the various Asian & Asian American groups on campus, this umbrella group ensures effective communication and collaboration. In addition to being aware of community needs and communicating those needs to the administration, the Asian American Student Initiative Coordinator also maintains a close relationship with Asian/Asian American Alumni specifically, the Asian/Asian American Alumni Alliance (A4). Responsibilities include: - Drafting PAC’s weekly newsletter - Planning and organizing at least one PAC meeting monthly meetings, and striving for attendance from all PAC groups - Maintaining a current list of all the leaders in the various PAC organizations - Fostering collaboration and communication between the various groups within PAC and with PAC and Asian/Asian American students - Planning and executing an annual PAC retreat in the fall semester - Aiding PAC groups in event planning and in the promotion of their events - Communication and collaboration with the Black and Latinx Student Initiatives and with Heritage Series programmers - Attendance at all monthly BCSC staffer meetings
Job Requirements - Must be an undergraduate student at Brown University in good academic standing - Familiarity and knowledge of issues relevant and of interest to Asian/Asian American students at Brown - Possess an understanding of group dynamics and basic conflict management skills - Dedication to promoting campus awareness about diversity issues - Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills along with basic social media proficiency - Willingness to compromise, collaborate, as well as work independently in a manner that is in the best interests of the community

Hourly Rate $10.60/hour to $12.45/hour, Stipend of $655 per semester.
