Who We Are:
Brown WebServices is part of Brown University’s Computing and Information Services (CIS) Department. Brown WebServices builds the Brown web. Our goals are:
  • Manage and support Brown’s web infrastructure tools including the BrownSites (our content management system), mobile, blogs, and web publishing environments.
  • Support, collaborate with, and coordinate the efforts of web communicators, designers, programmers, and developers across campus.
  • Design and Develop highly effective, custom websites for Brown offices, groups, and projects.
What You'll Do:
There will be room to learn and teach us a few things, but specifically, we'll need you to:
  • Develop departmental sites in BrownSites(a CMS based on Drupal).
  • Create Modules, Features, Themes and other aspects of BrownSites.
  • Develop aspects of Brown's Mobile Website/Apps.
  • Develop themes, modules, and widgets for BrownBlogs (WordPress MulltiSite).
  • Analyze the use of these services and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Participate in Web Services Team activities including codefests, troubleshooting, debugging, and testing.
Job Requirements
  • Demonstrated interest in web programming and Web Services' mission and goals.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through from start to finish.
  • Professional email manner.
  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in an office setting on a variety of tasks/projects.
  • Strong Internet research skills
  • Experience with a variety of web browsers, any web editor of choice, and web languages including HTML5, CSS, Javascript / jQuery, and/or PHP.
  • Experience with Drupal/WordPress preferred, but not required.
