Job Description Academic Coaches are graduate students or undergrad upperclass students who help undergraduate students to discover their individual learning styles and to develop effective studying strategies. Academic coaches are responsible for conducting individual appointments with students to assess their personal study habits and to improve their learning approaches. Academic Coaches are also responsible for conducting small workshop sessions for undergraduate students throughout the semester on topics such as reading strategies, taking notes, test preparation and time management. Coaches are expected to participate in training, team meetings, and evaluation. Coaches can expect to hold evening and weekend hours in the Academic Support Office, either for conducting workshops or consultations. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. All information is kept on file, and you will only be contacted if you are granted an interview. Interviews are 20 minutes long, and include a role play exercise.
Job Requirements Ability to communicate effectively with peers. Prior experience in teaching or leadership roles. Sensitivity to individual learning styles. Strong interest in education and peer education.
