Overview: The Curricular Resource Center for Peer Advising (CRC) is a place where students help each other engage with Brown's open curriculum and utilize its academic resources. Founded in 1976 to support the fullest use of the New Curriculum, today the CRC's Director, student coordinators and volunteers coordinate information sessions, community-building events, and individual meetings with students for advising about independent studies and concentrations, applying for funding opportunities, issues related to the sophomore year, and more. The CRC staff works with other departments and peer advising programs to best provide a broad spectrum of advice about the wealth of curricular resources at Brown. The CRC is a part of the Office of the Dean of the College. Postion: The IC Coordinators meet with students one-on-one to discuss the IC application process. The IC Coordinators also plan information sessions about the proposal process. In addition, the Coordinators are responsible for corresponding with all students whose proposals were accepted, and for leading the IC Departmental Undergraduate Group (DUG) and maintaining a database of students who have pursued ICs. The Coordinators serve on the College Curriculum Council sub-committee for reviewing IC proposals with the CRC Director and Dean Rodriguez.
-Demonstrated experience with the IC proposal process and with academic advising. -Experience working with and advising college students. -Ability to work collaboratively & to work well under pressure. -Strong organizational & leadership skills. -Creativity, patience, & reliability. -Demonstrated experience planning events. -Preference given to non-seniors. -Demonstrated experience building community.
Number of openings
6.0 to 12.0 hours per week
$11.00/hour to $12.65/hour, Raises commensurate with performance and length of time in position.
