Job Description 100-120 hours total, $12.50 per hour. Approximate total compensation: $1500.00 Start Date: July 31 End Date: August 28 The Mosaic+ Transition Program, is a pre-orientation program for incoming first-year students interested in CS. It consists of 3-weeks of online programming, and 1.5 weeks of on-campus programming. This position consists of 2 roles, the first is online (TA) and the second is on-campus (Residence Facilitator). The first 3 weeks of the position (TA) is part-time and remote (online) from July 31 to August 18 at approximately 5 hours per week, for a total of 15-20 hours (a maximum of 10 hours of planning work may be required prior to July 31, including an in-person meeting with the other TA/Facilitators in May, before the end of the spring 2017 semester; all other summer planning can be done remotely (online)). The last 1.5 weeks of the position (Residence Facilitator) is on-campus, in-person, and full-time from August 18 to 28 at approximately 8-10 hours per day, for a total of 80-100 hours. You will have the opportunity in the interview to express whether you are interested in both roles, or only the second role. Interest in both roles is not required, as not all residence facilitators are expected to work remotely as TAs before the on campus program begins. The responsibilities of each role are listed below: TA Role will include: * Curate content for online discussion prompts * Using Canvas to post the syllabus and daily homeworks * Facilitate and monitor group discussion in online classroom * Ability to learn, understand, and teach the curriculum * Hold online and on-campus TA hours to answer specific questions * Guide students through building and debugging the final project Facilitator Role will include: * Escort students and participate in designated activities in the program schedule * Offer peer mentorship, guidance and support * Participate in and/or lead program workshops, labs, TA hours and field trips * Co-lead Mosaic+/Catalyst combined group events Participate in 2-day training prior to start of the program (included in time commitment outlined above) In addition to hourly pay, housing and meal plan also included for the on-campus portion of the program.
Job Requirements Applicant Requisites Include: * Has finished or is taking CS intro sequence (CS15/16, or CS17/18, or CS19) * Current or future participation in Mosiac+ Mentorship program and the NSP Peer Advising and Leadership Initiative. * Prior program facilitation, TA/teaching/tutoring, or mentorship experience preferred (not required)
