Job Description Under the direction of the appropriate special collections librarian, the student will assist with the 250th Brown University anniversary exhibit (physical and online exhibit). Tasks include assisting in selection, digitization, design and development of online and physical exhibit, and marketing the finished online exhibition to interested constituencies. Work closely with Special Collections and Digital Production Services staffs to digitize and create metadata for selected materials for online exhibition; Coordinate the review of selected physical objects with the Conservation Department; Use existing exhibition labels to develop and expand on narrative flow for online presentation; Create an online exhibit using Omeka software Consult with appropriate special collections librarian on design and orientation for online exhibition.
Job Requirements * Graduate or undergraduate student who has taken courses in Public Humanities and is interested in enhancing his/her knowledge and skills in the organization and creation of exhibits. * Familiarity with web design concepts and relevant software (Adobe Photoshop, Omeka); demonstrated experience with designing and managing websites preferred. * Judgment, Attention to detail, Reliability, Trustworthiness. * Capacity for handling fragile materials in an appropriate manner. * Good oral and written communication skills. *Must be a currently enrolled student this academic year. PLEASE NOTE: Hours of work for this position will generally be performed between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. There may be some event-related evening or weekend work.
